Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

Alimony

What are the guidelines regarding Alimony. I am wanting a divorce and have a 10 yr anniversary in April 09. I have more income than my spouse. I don't think it will be a problem but want to make sure it is nothing to worry about. It will be a simple divorce, 1 asset, a home, will sell the home, no equity, no children, finances have been seperate for 5 years.

Re: Alimony

There are no guidelines for alimony. Permanent periodic alimony (the kind that lasts until death, remarriage, or cohabitation) is usually based on the length of the marriage, the lifestyle during the marriage, and the ability of the person who may be receiving alimony to work and live in the marital lifestyle after divorce. But there are lots of other factors and there are four other types of alimony. Also, the likelihood of alimony differs throughout the state, so you need to speak with a family lawyer to know better what the probability or amount of alimony is in your case.
