Legal Question in Family Law in Florida
How do I get my alimony payment? I had an IDO and my ex retired. I am suppose to be paid alimony and child support every 2 weeks..Can you just stop paying your support without the court okaying it?I was awarded permanent alimony. My ex is a jerk has a new wife and she doesn't appreciate me at all...I earned every dollar I get from that jerk,he didn't have a pot to pee in when I married him over 25 years ago.He lived with his mother, now his new wife can buy that pot for him to pee in...and not on my hard earned money...I even put the jerk through school, and like an idiot I stayed home and watched kids....I AM NOT HAPPY need some kind of answers, need a good attorney who doesn't feel sorry for ex husbands.....

Before he could cut-off child support, he would need to file a petition for a downward modification, and then have a judge enter an Order to either terminate, or lower, child support. It is the same process for alimony.
He has to prove that a substantial change in circumstances has occurred to justify the modification. This is not supposed to be a voluntary change.
If you opt to proceed without the assistance of counsel, be aware that you will not be entitled to a do over if things go badly.

An internet inquiry is no substitution for an in-office consultation with an attorney.
