Could I request alimony after we divorce and settle property with a communicable divorce using a ''Do it yourself divorce kit''?

Those who file for divorce are never required or obligated to retain an attorney and can use the self help forms/kit. However, retaining an attorney that knows the law in divorce will only help your case. Alimony can only be addressed after a divorce if the final judgment and settlement agreement states that it is modifiable and that the court reserved jurisdiction to address this issue.
