Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

Alomony

I'm 39 years old and have been married for 17 years. I have 3 teenage children and have not worked or have more than a high school degree. My husband is offering me 15 years of alomony non modifiable and my attorney is advising me to go to court and go for lifetime. What are my chances in court?

Re: Alomony

Your attorney knows your case best. Information that would be offered by well-meaning strangers should not be relied upon. However, if he is offering 15 years support, that tells me that he knows permanent is a likely decision. The amount depends on your need and his ability to pay.

Listen to the counsel of your counsel who best knows your situation and the legal options and probable outcomes in your local jurisdiction. Remember that even if the court does not award lifetime alimony, it is likely to award alimony for a fixed period such as 15 years or until the occurrence of some event such as remarriage, etc.
