Legal Question in Family Law in Florida
I am an American born citizen, and I've married an English citizen. I have a stepdaughter who knows me only me as her father. Her biological father has given up contact rights, and given his consent for her to relocate and permanently reside in the US. He left her when she was only 10 months and hasn't seen her since, and she is nearly four now. I would like to adopt her and make her my daughter legally. How would I go about doing that.

You would need to file for step parent adoption and have the forms sent to him to have him sign along with a barrister from England. If I can be of assistance, please contact my office for an appointment. 904-997-1031
A step-parent adoption is a relatively simple matter, as long as the biological father consents.
If you opt to proceed without the assistance of counsel, be aware that you will not be entitled to a do over if things go badly.
