What happens when an attorney breaks a verbal confidentiallity agreement?

There is automatic attorney-client confidentiality. There is no need for a contract. First, I would make sure that confidentiality has truly been violated. There are exceptions to attorney-client confidentiality and the particular instance you think of may fall under that. If it doesn't, then you can file a complaint with the Bar and/or sue if there are damages. But again, make certain that confidentiality has actually been violated before taking any action.
