Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

I have been awarded 50% of my ex-husband's IRA account. In a court-ordered document it states that I am to receive this and in the Marital Settlement agreement it says that once I've received that, he is free and clear of all obligation. Before he will release the funds he is insisting that I prepare a release statement and sign it. Do I have to? I don't trust him. I am receiving alimony thru 2020 and I worry he can somehow get out of that with this release he wants. My divorce attorney wants another $1500 to draft something. I've already paid $17K for the divorce, $13.5K for a QDRO for the TSP account, and now another $1500 for a release document. What should I do?

Talk to your attorney. You should know what this $1500 is for. You should understand the final judgment. If you have questions, ask your attorney. Your attorney knows the facts and was present at mediation.

Get a new attorney or do this yourself. Put this ex in contempt for not complying with the court order.
