Legal Question in Family Law in Florida
My babies father left me when I was 3 months pregnant and I haven't been able to get in contact with him since. She is now 4 months old and every attempt to get in contact with him has failed, so I would like to try and recieve child support, but I am going to be moving to Georgia in less than a week. If I file for child support in Georgia, since he resides in Florida how will the case be handled? Would they make me travel to his county of residence in florida? Also, if it is filed in Georgia does he have any parental visitation rights? I dont want my daughter around the things he does now and he also works shift work so he doesn't have alot of time to spend with her anyways. What free time he does have, he spends partying. So I am worried that if I recieve child support he will get visitation and make me travel from Georgia to Florida for him to see her. Any advice or suggestions is greatly appreciated please!

You can file in FL for support only, then if he wanted to enforce his parental rights he would have to file in GA where the child resides. Contact my office for free consultation 727-446-7659
You can file for support in Florida before you leave. Note that if he is ordered to pay support he can file to establish paternity and obtain time sharing (visitation). He does not necessarily have to file in Georgia. If he files now, he can file in Florida because Florida was the home state of the child before you moved. Furthermore, the court can order long distance time sharing where he is allowed to see the child even though you are residing in Georgia.
