Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

I had a baby with a guy 2 years ago when I was 18, we were never married. He has only seen the child a few times which is mostly because of me, I dont want him around because he was arrested for burglary and grand theft while I was pregnant an is constantly on drugs and drinks alcohol, he just recently violated his probation for failing a urine test and was often abusive during our relationship and said he hoped me and the baby were hit by a semi truck one day. I'm married now and my husband has been the only father my son has ever known since he was born an he wants to adopt him but because his biological father is on the birth certificate (only because he threatened to kill me if he wasn't) and won't sign his right away, what can we do to make the step parent adoption easier and make it to wear the biological father can never see the child.

Talk to DCF. Research as to whether he was convicted of a second degree felony or higher. See Florida Statute Chapter 61. He may have very restricted rights.
