Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

Baby names

Who has more of a legal right to chose the name of their new born baby the birth mother or the father? Does it matter if the couple is legally married?

Neither party has more of a legal right to choose a baby's name. Generally both parents will work together to choose the name but the law simply does not address this issue.

Marriage or non-marriage has no legal effect, although in common practice, the doctors will ask the birth mother the name of the child at the time of birth.
