Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

My bf and I lived together for 9 years. He lived in my house. He did add a pool/porch to our house. Now that we are broken up, he is wanting me to pay the full $26,000 back to him for the addition. He did live in the house rent free for the 9 years but paid utilites. What am I legally obligated to pay? We have nothing in writting concerning the addition. It's all in my name.

Thank you

As a legal obligation, his claim of $26k compensation is weak. It appears your relationship was not based on economics or contractual obligation. Payment of only utilities for nine years does not support his claim for compensation. Since you have very little or no legal obligation, resolution of the matter comes down to a personal matter between the two of you.
