Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

blocking passport

My ex husband just went to the school and gave them a letter stating he longer wants my husband of 4 years to be able to pick up his son. Do I have to go back to mediation to fight this for I work past six, which is also the time the school closes extended day? Also he(EX) wants to take our son to egypt for a month in the summer durying his time, can I block the passport and how do I do it?

Re: blocking passport

If you've placed your husband on the school pickup list, the school should honor it, and you should speak to the principal to make it clear that you want your husband on the list. Your ex-husband has no right to take your husband off the list if you've placed your husband on the list.

Your ex-husband probably does have the right to take your son to Egypt unless you have some specific reason to stop it. A good, specific reason would be something like a threat from your ex to keep your son from you or to keep your son in Egypt and not return him to Florida.

You can block your son's passport by simply not signing for it, but your ex may simply go to court and ask a judge to have the passport issued without your signature if your reason for not signing is bad.
