Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

My boyfriend and I have 2 children. He is verbally abusive, controlling, and threatening. I want to take my children out of this enviornment, but to be with my family I have to move 1 1/2 hrs north- which is out of state. I have no money and my car is in his name. What do I need to do to get out of this situation?

Hello. Since you two are not married AND if there has never been a Paternity case filed and a Final Judgment entered, you can leave if you want. The proper way to legalize your situation is to file a paternity cae, not to contest who the father is, but to ascertain the amount of child support and to establish the parenting time with the children and some other matters. Let me know if my office can be of any assistance. Tom Rosenblum

YOu and your children need to go to the Domestic Violence Unit - let them help you with your situation. They will put you in a location unknown to him and help you re-establish yourself.
