Legal Question in Family Law in Florida
What do I need?
My boyfriend just got custody of his four children. The children were neglected terribly. I need to bring his daughters to the doctor. They are eaten up with bug bites and I'm afraid they will end up with impetigo. Can he just write me a note giving me permission to have them treated or do we need to do the whole ''power of attorney'' thing?

Re: What do I need?
Frankly, the answer is up to the individual doctor. In today's day and age, more and more doctors are requesting/requiring a medical power of attorney. To be safe, you should have one anyway in case of an emergency so that you can make health care decisions in the absence of your boyfriend.
I strongly suggest that you take the time to meet with a local attorney and discuss this further. An ounce of planning will be well worth the cost in a time of need.
