Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

My boyfriend hired a lawyer about three years ago to get a uncontested divorce he was legally separated from his wife in the state of CA they both signed the papers he paid the lawyer the original fee requested but never went through and gave the lawyer the fee to file the papers this by the way took place here in florida, he now wants to go through with having the lawyer file the papers with the court is it too late? Or will he have to start all over again?

He's have to ask the lawyer, but there is no requirement that she sign the papers all over again.
