Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

My boyfriend is looking to seek joint or full custody of his 5 year old son. His ex has never filed for child support or custody. We have his son at least 4 days out of every week. We have it written down on a calender. His ex does not have a stable home. We take him to and from school and pay for his day care. He has his own room at our home where at his mother's he does not. She also works until late into the night where as we are home by 5. What are the chances that he would be able to get at least joint custody?

The new laws in Florida revolve around a time-sharing arrangement, not joint and full custody. The system favors a shared arrangement as being in the best interests of the child. I would think his chances of getting a fairly equal time-sharing arrangement would be good.
