Legal Question in Family Law in Florida
Braces
My court paper reads. . .
The former husband shall be responsible for 50% of all uncovered medical, dental, vision expenses and costs for the minor child not covered by the former wife's insurance on the minor child. The party incurring the uncovered costs/expense shall submit a request for reimbursement to the other party within 30 days, and the other party, within 30 days of receipt, shall submit the applicable reimbursement for that cost/expense. The former husband shall be responsible for 50% of all uncovered costs/expenses until modified by court order, the minor child reaches the age of 18 or graduates high school, which ever occurs later, becomes emancipated, marries, dies, or otherwise becomes self supporting.
I am the former husband and my ex wants to get braces for our daughter. I told her I wanted a second opinion and if she went ahead and put them on before my second opinion, she could pay for them herself.
Would the judge uphold my decision?

Re: Braces
Did your ex refuse to get a second opinion? Do you have any basis for your feelings that the braces are unecessary (besides not wanting to pay for them)? Although wanting a 2nd opinion is not unreasonable, the court order does not require it, so you will probably have to pay. Hiring lawyers will cost more than your average braces.
