Re: breech of divorce decree
First you need to send a copy of the medical bills to your ex, preferably by certified mail, along with a demand that he pay the bills as ordered by the court. If your ex still does not pay, then you will need to file a petition with the divorce court for your ex to be held in contempt of court for his failure to comply with the court order. Usually the best procedure is to get the attorney who handled your divorce to file the petition, but you can also get a new attorney for the new petition if you prefer. It is treated as a new court case by the court system, but it should move through the court faster than your divorce did because there are fewer issues at stake in a contempt proceeding.
While filing to hold your ex in contempt of court does involve spending more money on attorney's fees, the good news is that judges usually award attorney's fees to you when you have to file to enforce a court order. It is treated as part of your ex's punishment for violating the court order.
Contact a lawyer right away and get the process started for taking your ex back to court.
