You can do this if you get a power of attorney from him. The power of attorney must be a Florida form (Florida has a fairly new Power of Attorney law which is strict with regard to banking). The bank may have a form or you can get one from a lawyer. You may find a form on the Internet, but be careful what you get. The power of attorney can be limited to you closing the account.

He can give you a limited power of attorney so you can do that.
