Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

My case is like follows: I get married and my wife has a girl four years old. Before me, she was living with someone, they never married; that man thinks that the girl is his; but that is not true, he recognized the child like his, when she born. They had separation more than two years ago. I am a citizen of the United States and that man is ilegal, plus he is not giving support to the child: can I give my last name to the girl?, and how can I do it? Do you know if this man the child's birth certificate or has been only acting like her father as he believes she is his daughter?
