Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

My name is Cassie, my ex and I have been separated for about 2 yrs now we were never married, we have a 6yr old son together and he does not pay me child support although I have filed for services with Child Support Enforcement right around the same time we separated my case has not been entered into to court because CSE say's they have not been able to serve him with papers yet, our son has lived with me since our separation. My ex and I have had all the normal arguments that unwed separated couples with a child have but I have never denied my ex visitation with our son and in the 2 yrs we have been separated my ex has not spent more than 6 weekends total with our son and rarely calls to talk to him, He wants to be "Daddy" but doesn't want all the responsibilities of being a "Father", recently he asked me to make him a copy of our son's birth certificate for him ( he is named the father on the birth certificate and our son has his last name, so he could just go get a copy himself but he's too cheap and lazy ) I asked him why he needed it and he said he needed it for something he was doing but he wouldn't tell me what he was doing, my question is what are all the reasons he might need our son's birth certificate for? If my ex decides to ask to have his son for the weekend I'm worried he may not return him to me because we don't actually have court papers and I won't be able to do anything about it until we have gone to court, Due to the fact that my ex has family in Spain I am also worried he may be trying to get a passport for our son and leave the country with him, I'm scared I'm not going to get my son back the next time he goes with my ex.

You can file a Paternity action to establish visitation and child support. You should hire a private processor server to serve him if possible. As for out of country travel you can address this in the pleadings. You also don't' have to supply him with a copy of the birth certificate. As you stated above he can get one on his own. If you need further help you should consult legal counsel.
