name change advices!!
hi, i really want to change my last name and i m wondering if there's anything i should be aware of before I fill the application. and since i m cleaned on every aspects, do i need an attorney in the process? my dad had his green card under a name that he completely changed. now he's in the process of getting his new name recognized. before i became a U.S. citizen an immigration officer advised that it was going to take a while if i do change my last name for it was during the election. since i wanted to vote, I decided to postpone it for after the election and proceed with the naturalization.

You probably do need an attorney. Getting one's name changed, even when the person has been a lifelong citizen, can be a tricky deal. If you are in the Jacksonville, Clay County area, I can help you. It should not cost a whole lot in attorneys fees, but I will warn you that he court costs themselves are quite expensive!
