if you are a college student in a state other than the state of your legal residence, through which courts, etc. would you change your name. In my case, I'm from FL but I'm going to college in MA, so where do I go?

Re: name change

In Massachusetts you have a common law right to change your name. This means that you don't need to go to court. All you have to do is consistently use the new name. Of course, you can't do this for fraudulent purposes. However, without a court order, Florida may not recognize the name change. If you go to court to change your name, you should go to court where you are domiciled.
