Re: change last name

The answer depends...

If you simply wish to change your last name and have not filed bankruptcy or been convicted of a felony, you can use "florida name change" (google it). Another option is for your step-father to adopt you, change your name and have rights as though you were his biological daughter. As for your child, you would need to serve her bio father notice of the name change which would give him an opportunity to contest. However, if he is not he legal father, this does not apply. I would need more information.

My office handles adult adoptions as well as termintation of parental rights. Feel free to call or email if you need to consult. Best wishes.
