Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

Changed first name

My future ex-husband changed his

first name 04/07. When he signed up for health insurance he put his

old first name on the paperwork. He

has to provide insurance for our

son until he turns 18.Is it ok to use

that medical card,or should I inform

insurance company of the name

change?

You should not rely on or take action based on this communication without first presenting ALL relevant details to a competent attorney in your jurisdiction and then receiving the attorney's individualized advice for you. By reading the "Response" to your question or comment, you agree that the opinion expressed is not intended to, nor does it, create any attorney-client relationship, nor does it constitute legal advice to any person reviewing such information, nor will it be considered an attorney-client privileged communication. If you do not agree, then stop right here, and do not read any further.

Your husband should notify the insurance company of any legal change to his name. He should do this in order to avoid providing them with any basis for confusion in processing claims or a reason to deny coverage in the future.
