Checking accounts & Marriage
If a couple has separate checking accounts, can one spouse close the checking account of the other spouse without her permission?

I don't see how that can happen if the account is "separate." It might if the account were joint or if the contract allowed another signatory, but not on separate accounts. Good question for the bank manager at the bank involved.

It's not illegal, but I've never known a bank that would allow someone to close another person's checking account, even if that person is their spouse.
