Re: does the child have the right to choose where they live
A child age 12, or older, is subject to parental control. In extreme family situations where parents have been ruled unfit by a court, the child may be able to exercise some influence on the court's decision with respect to residence or custody. There is no magic age at which a child may influence the decision of the court; however, depending on the age and maturity of the child, a court has the discretion to consider the wishes of a child in such decisions.
