NOTE: This communication is not intended as and should not be interpreted as legal advice. Rather, it is intended solely as a general discussion of legal principles. You should not rely on or take action based on this communication without first presenting ALL relevant details to a competent attorney in your jurisdiction and then receiving the attorney's individualized advice for you. By reading the "Response" to your question or comment, you agree that the opinion expressed is not intended to, nor does it, create any attorney-client relationship, nor does it constitute legal advice to any person reviewing such information, nor will it be considered an attorney-client privileged communication. If you do not agree, then stop right here, and do not read any further.

In Florida you could file a suit to determine paternity and if successful then file for custody. There is probably a similar action in Wisconsin but you would need to ask an attorney there.

Re: Child Custody

Hello:

'just read your post and the one response. I would also ask an atty. up there what there laws are on the subject, including their laws on Notice to father in Adoption cases, serving parties with initial case filings. In fla. if a plaintiff can't find the other side, they must publish Notice of the Action in a business newspaper for four weeks.

If they have a similar requirement, you could keep reviewing their papers if you aren't provided other Notice. Obviously, it would help if you knew what County she is in up there so you could check the Clerk of Court's web site to see if she files a case. 'Hope this helps. Tom Rosenblum
