Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

Child Custody

I am the grandmother of 2 girls, 7 and 8. My son (their father) and my two grandchildren have lived with me for over 2 full years now. 2 years ago my son and the mother of the girls (not married) went through a DCF case and I was awarded guardianship. The case was resolved and both went to anger management classes and fulfilled their court requirements. The mother was granted custody of the two girls. They never moved in with her and she never came to get them from my house. Since then myself and their father have caretakers of the children, clothing, feeding, schooling, child care fees, etc. In April of 2005 the mother left the state of Florida and moved to the state of Michigan where she has been living. We have proof of residency in the state of Michigan for her. Again I and my son are the sole providers for the children. Their mother has not seen them since April of 2005, not sent money, not done anything. My son and I would like to know what we can do to obtain custody of the children. What direction should we take and does it look like we have a case for custody. Please let me know if you can help us. Thank you kindly.
