Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

Child Custody involving non-related parties

What can unrelated individuals do to gain legal custody of a child? We currently have temporary custody and, over the past year, have found the child's mother to be highly unstable. Thank you for any input/advice you can offer in regards to this matter.
