Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

child custody

My sister passed away 3 yrs. ago and since then her 15 yr. old son has been living with a paternal aunt in S.C. He now wishes to live here in Fl. with me. His aunt is okay with that, how do I go about getting legal custody so I can enroll him in school and put him on our insurance? His father is also deceased. Thank you.

Does the other aunt have legal custody? You could ask the same court that gave her custody to modify that order; or you could petition for a guardianship or adoption in Florida. You shoud speak to a local family law attorney.
