Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

Child custody of 16 year old daughter

Our 16 year old daughter is coming to live with us. We won't make her mom pay child support, but we will claim her on taxes. The mother is not contesting this. We now pay her support. Can we draw up a form that will hold up in court (if needed) so that we don't have to pay her even though the daughter is living with us. We don't want to go through the court if we don't have to. Can we have a notary sign and stamp our agreement and it be legal? We don't want to have to pay back support years later because we didn't go through the court. We know of someone that had their child come live with them, stopped paying support and years later the ex wife sued for back support and won, and the child lived with him. Thank you!

Re: Child custody of 16 year old daughter

Your question is unclear since it refers to "we". In any event not withstanding the court order, the parents may enter into an agreement deeming the court order modified.
