Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

Child custody

Two years ago I went to jail on a misdeamenor and my ex boyfriend took my child and I have been searching that long to find him. Recently I found out he was in jail in OCJ and that my son is in Indiana with his wife. He is not the father and first took my son to Rhode Island and now Indiana. Is this illegal and what chances do I have at getting my son back?

Re: Child custody

Since your son lives in Indiana, Indiana law would control. You would have to post your question in the Indiana forum, not the Florida forum.

For what it's worth, it wouldn't be a crime in Florida if your ex-boyfriend thought he were the father. Also, under Florida law (again, for what it's worth), you'd be able to get your son back, since your ex-boyfriend would have no legal rights to him.

You should call an Indiana lawyer right away.
