a summond to court was served to my mothers house and signed for by my step dad. I neede to respond within 20 days but he failed to mention this to me. I am just learning 2 months later I was served. What shall I do? Do I have to respond although didn't sign for the summons

You are late. A judgment may have already been entered against you. Suggest you retain counsel to protect your rights. Good luck.

Service may have been done at your mother's because you gave that address as yours at some point of because you couldn't be found elsewhere. You did have to respond. If a default judgment has been entered, you can motion to set it aside for the reasons you gave here and go from there.
