Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

Child Support Arrearages

My divorce was finalized in August 2001, at that time by ex worked for BSO (Broward Sheriff's Office) for some 9 years earning $75,000 + annually. We have a court ordered child support agreement that was set up in our decree. He has since quit his job, moved to Maryland and is now employed making substantially less. I have been trying to get the case enforced there, to no avail. What actions can I next take to enforce this case? DOR has suspended his Fla. drivers license and placed an order for tax intercept. I have not received any information as of yet about the case status. I am afraid that if I seek outside help, that DOR will stop assisting me.

Re: Child Support Arrearages

If you hire your own attorney in Maryland, Florida DOR will probably stop helping you, but that doesn't seem like such a bad thing, given the little help you are receiving now. If you do hire a lawyer, the tax intercept and license suspension will remain in place.

It's almost always better to hire your own child support lawyer than to depend on the State.
