Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

Child Support Arrearages

I have been trying for 8 years, through the state of Florida, to recieve back child support of approx. $28,000 and modification for my 2 children that are now ages 20 and 21 years old. The state made contact with, knows where the non-custodial parent lives(Indiana), and where he is employed and has for over 6 years and made him pay $50 (court ordered child support from 1990 in Florida) a week until each child turned 18. I have the worksheets that the state made that shows the 15 years worth of nonpayment and was told 5 years ago by the only wonderful caseworker that we would be going to court soon. 3 weeks later I was told my case worker was transferred and have not recieved ANY cooperation from anyone. Do I just give up and will he get away with 15 years of non payment? What can I do??

I don't know if you should give up because I don't know if he can pay and how far he'll go to get out of it.

Maybe you should try hiring an Indiana lawyer to collect the money, if they allow that in Indiana (we allow it in Florida). Remember, DOR is a free way to collect support, and sometimes, when it comes to free, you get what you pay for.
