Legal Question in Family Law in Florida
child support
I have two children that I support. One is turning 18 this year. Will my payments automatically change to the support of only one or do I have to file something? How do they calculate the new rate? Do we have to resubmit present earnings or do they take the old payment and divide it by a percentage? thanks

It is not automatic. You must file to change.
Re: child support
The other lawyer only answered the first part of your question. If your court order says the payment changes automatically, then your payment will change automatically, and you don't have to go back to court. Otherwise, you have to file a motion to modify child support.
Your new child support will be based on the current incomes of the parents. Also remember that child support doesn't necessarily stop at 18. If your oldest graduates after 18, the payment stops the month after graduation, but never later than the month after your child's 19th birthday.
