Child support, custody and parental rights

Couple is not married! What are the father's parental rights when moving out of state? Will it be considered abandoment if the father leaves mother and child?

Father retains all of his parental rights no matter where he lives. To insure a legal plan, he should take her to court and have joint custody set with the mother being the domiciliary parent and with him having visitation rights. In that procedure, child support would be set. If there is no court order, then the dad is at the mercy of the mother. As long as he pays his support and visits when he can, I do not think he will have any problems. I assume you ask about abandonment in case the mother marries and wants her husband to adopt the child.
