child support

if a defendant is sentenced to 6 months for non-payment of child support and was in jail for 2 months prior on a different charge can that time be credited to him and he be released earlier than expected since he cannot receive gain time or get early release.

No. There is no credit given for time served on an unrelated charge. Generally, on an order for incarceration due to nonpayment of child support, there is a purge amount. This means that you will be released if you pay the amount set forth in the order to purge the contempt.

No.

There is no relationship between the two. In child support, there ought to be a purge amount that would get you out if you can pay it. You don't say how much time is left on the criminal case?
