Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

child support

I was fired from my job in may of 08, but I kept paying the same amount of child support even though my income changed substantially, my question is can the amount of child support that I owe be changed to reflect the amounts that I should have been paying from the time I lost my job

Re: child support

They could, the question becomes should it. I can't answer that with what little information I have. Feel free to call me to discuss.

Re: child support

Since you suffered an involuntary reduction of income which does not appear to be short termed you are now entitled to a reduction but you do not get a credit for past payments.

Call me if you like.

Re: child support

You cannot retroactively modify child suport. It is important to immediately file a motion to reduce your support based on a change in circumstances because if the Court grants your motion it is from the date you file the motion.
