Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

Child Support / Medicaid for mother only

i was involved with a friend who just moved from DC to FL. the week before she moved, she discovered she was pregnant and has decided to keep the child (due date summer 2007). she does NOT want to collect child support from me. she does not want to establish my paternity.

the mother is currently on medicaid while pregnant (she was only approved 2 weeks ago). will the state REQUIRE HER to determine paternity and collect child support from me due to her medicaid? if the mother stops receiving medicaid immediately and purchases private insurance, will she be able to avoid child support proceedings when the child is born?

the mother is NOT expecting to need any form of government assistance once the child is born, including medicaid. she expects to have her own private health insurance for the child by the time it is born.

my question: if the mother remains on medicaid now, but has private insurance for the child once born, will the state petition me for ongoing child support (full 18 yrs), or is it possible it will only require that i reimburse it for the cost of the mother's medicaid during the pregnancy?

thanks in advance for your replies.

All of your surmises and expectations regarding

your possible loops, leaps, turns, and swivels(metaphorically speaking) in order to avoid having to meet your lawful child support obligation are likely to turn folorn. What's this all mean?

At some point, buddy, some duly constituted authority is going to catch up with you and you're going to pay support for the child which you apparently fathered, and it's likely to be a lot closer to 18 years of child support obligation rather than six months of reimbursement to the state for medicaid expended upon the mother during the course of her pregnancy.
