Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

Child support modification

I moved to Ohio but my divorce was in Florida. My ex-husband has recently filed a petition for modification of child support. How do I go about ''answering'' without a lawyer? I cannot afford one.

Re: Child support modification

First try to get it transfered to Ohio. Under the Uniform child custody act, jurisdiction for this type of case is basically where the child lives. In order to transfer the case to Ohio you have to have lived here for 6 months. In Ohio child support is based on a schedule and the Court will not usually vary from the computation. If the case is in Florida, you may need to get help down there.

Good luck!!!
