Once the adoption is complete and you've waived all parental rights and the children have a secure provider, then you should be able to have a court terminate the support obligation or it may be automatic.

Re: child support

You can terminate your parental rights right now. You don't have to wait for the adoption proceedings.

NOTE: This communication is not intended as and should not be interpreted as legal advice. Rather, it is intended solely as a general discussion of legal principles. You should not rely on or take action based on this communication without first presenting ALL relevant details to a competent attorney in your jurisdiction and then receiving the attorney's individualized advice for you. Since the grandfather is petitioning for adoption, you can voluntarily renounce all parental rights at this time and thus stop your obligation for child support.
