Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

child support obligations

My girlfriend has become pregnant, I was told that was not possible. Now I have no choices, she has all of them. Is there a way that I can not be obligated to pay child support? What are my options now if ANY?

Re: child support obligations

You need to file a paternity suit and ask for custody. It is not true that the woman has all the choices. Her only choice is, in the first trimester, whether to have the child and, after that, the manner in which the child will be born. Once the baby is born, you have the same rights as she does, including the right to primary residential responsibility ("custody").

If, however, she does get custody, you will almost certainly be obligated to pay child support, but you will also be entitled to court-ordered visitation.
