child support

my ex was ordered to pay 1600 for child support and has not paid since 1/06 . he has fled to georgia, why will florida not expedite someone who owes so much. he already has a misdmenaor warrant in florida. Do i have to get an attorney in every state he decides to move

Hello: This is a confusing issue when the nonpaying party is in another state. Have you gone to the state's office of child support enforcement? They should be able to coordinate with Georgia's Dept. Perhaps they can suspend his driver's license or intercept his tax refund if he is filing...or even working. I have heard other horror stories whereby the gov't is incompetent and not getting the mother any money. It's worth a try.

If that won't work, you may want to contact an atty. in the city where he lives and ask what relief Georgia's laws will provide. 'Hope this helps. Tom Rosenblum.
