child support payments thru which state

I live in KY. My child and custodial parent live in Fla. Which state does child support go thru? Do I need to get a KY atty. or Fla atty to set it up?

Re: child support payments thru which state

You are advised to contact a family law attorney in the jurisdiction where the divorce was obtained. If you and your former can agree on the amount of support, it can be paid through an income deduction order which will deduct support from your pay and send it to the Clerk of the county of residence of the former and child. An attorney can advise you re amount of support and appropriate visitation guidelines.

Re: child support payments thru which state

It depends which state entered the child support order. Generally, an income deduction order or payment through the court registry is ordered at the time of the dissolution in the state in which the divorce was granted. You did not supply this information.

I suggest that you invest a few dollars for a consultation with family lawyer in your area. There are several issues to be reviewed including the child support.
