Legal Question in Family Law in Florida
Child Support and scheduled visitation
We have custody of my stepdaughter. Her mother does not pay child support or visit her regularly, (hardly). Her mother lives from place to place where ever she can and is very unpredictable.
we are consdiering taking her to court for child support and scheduled visitation. Do you have any advice?
Also, is there any way I am able to get any type of guardianship or adopt her?

Re: Child Support and scheduled visitation
Based on the information provided, the residential parent who is supporting the child can ask the court to award support from the other parent. Support is based on the needs of the child and the income of the parents. One may refer to Florida Child Support Guidelines to estimate the amount of support. Regarding the determination of custody, adoption, rights of step parents, etc., the court will decide on what is best for the child. You do not indicate your relationship to the child at present. You are advised to consult with a local family law attorney who can address your particular situation and legal options available.
