Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

Child Support for 18 year old going to college

I was divorce in Florida and now I am living in Indiana, my ex is in the Navy and stationed overseas. He is in Indiana now for our daughter's graduation. Our divorce was handled by a paralegal service therefore; it is very vage. It does not state anything about child support when the child goes to college. Should my ex still pay the child support directly to me or to our daughter? thank you

Child support is always paid to the spouse. Any money paid directly to the child is generally considered a gift by the non-residential parent under Florida caselaw.

If the divorce decree requires child support to be paid during the time your daughter is in college, then it should be paid to you. If there is no mention, then the father's obligation to pay child support probably ended when your daughter turned 18 which is the age of majority in the State of Florida.
