children divorcing their parents

I live in al, i have been helping care for two little girls who live in fl. the girls are now 12 and 13 they claim their stepfather is physcally abusing them i called dhr and they visited the home. the girls can now have no contact with me. the 13 year old confided in me stating she wants to divorce her mother and live with me are her grandfather who lives in fl. my question is who can i contact about getting her a lawyer, and what is the the posssibilities.

The only thing you can do is contact DCF in Florida to start an investigation. If they determine that the children need to be taken from the home, you can then ask the court that they come live with you. If you are not a relative, that may be extremely difficult to accomplish. It is more likely that they would be placed with the grandfather in Florida. If they determine that the children are not in danger, I don't think there is anything else you can do. The oldest one has not yet reached the age when she can petition for emancipation.
