children's father and I are not married, he dropped children and I off at one of his friends , I left his friends and went to stay with my family, he tells me I can not just take my children where I want, can I ? We were not in a safe place, now I have my children in a safe home. We are in the state Florida

Yes you can. I suggest you get a court order and have him start paying child support and get a visitation schedule worked out.
